ARSIN was born Vinte Clemons on October 19, 1987 in Philadelphia, PA. He grew up in “Da Bottom” which is the nickname for a troublesome neighborhood in the Mantua Area of West Philadelphia. ARSIN’s musical influences were artist like James Brown, Michael Jackson, Naughty by Nature, Brand Nubians, Bone Thugs-n- Harmony, Nas, 2pac, & Eminem. His decision to choose music as a career path came shortly after he had his first encounter with Hip Hop music. This encounter came in the form of a “Brand Nubians” cassette tape that he found in 1997. When asked why that particular style of music interested him he responded “I identified with the inspirational content in the music; it was similar to my struggles and experiences.”
During his teenage years ARSIN was in a few different Rap groups and began to live a criminal lifestyle. However, he came to a crossroad when he began to lost friends to gun violence and realized his own life was at risk as well. He made the decision to start his solo career and aimed to inspire and reach people the same way he was inspired by the hip hop artist that came before him. He got the idea for his stage name in a cypher when the crowd began to scream “Fire” every time he performed. One day he looked up different synonyms for fire as well as words that related to it and came up with Arson, which was later changed to ARSIN (Our-sin). His philosophy was that “our – sin”, the idea of right and wrong affects our values in society in terms of classism, racism, and political & religious ideologies. He uses his music to reflect his experiences with those issues. ARSIN embodies a soulful, edgy and retroactive style of Hip Hop. He describes his lyrical style as “A rapid fire flow with a contemporary and entertaining conscious direction.
ARSIN music career began to expand to an international level in 2006 when he began to utilize the internet and other promotional outlets, including numerous live performance, DVD appearances and street level promotion. In 2007, he released his 3rd underground mixtape entitled “Fire Escape 2”, which featured the single “REWIND”. The single caught the attention of local mainstream Radio One & Clear Channel radio stations and landed ARSIN live interviews on WDAS 105.3 with Patty Jackson and 100.3 The Beat with Dj Touchtone. The single was #1 on Dj Touchtone’s top ten countdown and ARSIN’s live interview was rated #1 in the tri-state area. A Few months later Dj Touchtone along with Dj Khaled and Ace Hood made an appearance in music video for “REWIND”. After the release of the video, ARSIN began to tour across the country and gained a broader fan-base. His hard work eventually earned him his first corporate deal with the ringtone company Thumbplay Inc.
In 2010 ARSIN teamed up with music producer Flow Fiya and released his first full length internationally distributed studio album entitled “2nd Hand Smoke”. The album was a popular amongst fans and fueled the momentum for numerous music videos and projects after its release. ARSIN is now infiltrating the music industry with a strong following and network. ARSIN has recently worked and performed with entertainers such as Naughty by Nature, Keri Hilson, Bill Cosby, Kevin Hart and more. He recently released a new single entitled “High Beams” feat. Bizzy Bone and is now preparing for his 7th mixtape and 2nd studio album. ARSIN still gives back to his community. In 2012, ARSIN graduated with a Masters in Human Services from Lincoln University and created a non-profit organization for youth in his community.
There is direct correlation between ARSIN and Hip hop music. He advocates for the struggle and tells the stories of the community though his music. Throughout his development, he has evolved and increased his capacity as an artist. ARSIN leads a movement to evolve Hip Hop music by contribution a style, image, and soulful sound that only he can deliver.
